Quotes from Clients

"Schani's delivery of this course was received well by all involved. His general manner of delivery was warm and friendly but very informative of his knowledge and practises. Schani was a very reliable, supportive artist who provided all of the participants with a good foundation of information to build upon and has since acted as a mentor to all of the participants as they embarked upon their first teaching experiences within elderly settings."

— Laura Simmons, Dudley Community Dance Consortiums Dance Artist/Co-coordinator

Inclusive Dance Teacher Schani Cave

Inclusive Dance Teacher
Schani is highly experienced and skilled as an Inclusive Dance Teacher, having worked in this area for over 5 years. He has been a dance teacher in a number of Special Needs Schools, with Disability Performance Groups, Extra Curricular Disability Support Services and with Disability community groups in and around Derby and the East Midlands.

Dependant upon the requirements of the work this will shape the type of creative tasks undertaken, but each session will be held in a fun, friendly, stimulating and safe environment. Previous work has been diverse and included being an exercise tutor at a mental health drop in daycare centre, being resident artist developing work in a sensory room (Snoozelen), leading an inclusive sign and dance project to being choreographer for a Learning disabled dance company.

Sessions can be delivered at various levels and speeds to encompass a range of abilities. Most sessions include creativity and the use of props and music to stimulate the senses and to focus the participant whilst also adding fun, interest and excitement. All sessions are person centred so each individual receives attention and each exercise becomes individually tailored, hence all classes are open to everyone!

In all settings the movement to music not only benefits the health of the participants physically, but also mentally and socially. Dance work is designed to maintain and improve mobility, keep supplety, build strength and assist balance as well as to increase social interaction, improve mental well being, increase self esteem in a fun, friendly, stimulating and safe environment. The dance work is also designed to empower the individual, with all dance sessions being lead with a "can do" attitude. Schani has danced with a variety of groups with differing disabilities including people with physical impairments, Learning disabilities, mental health problems, hidden disabilities, sensory impairments, people who are deaf or have hearing impairments, blind or visually impaired clients and people with multiple disabilities.

Dance sessions usually last approximately an hour and are most beneficial delivered as a block, however, one off, workshops and other options are available. Hiring my services as an Inclusive Dance Teacher would suit a Disability Service Activities coordinator, Disability Residential Services and people responsible for planning activities for Disabled Peoples groups.

For details of Schani's qualifications please download the Educational Background and Qualifications PDF. Visual and Audio clips of my work, including a BBC Radio 4 interview can be found on the Press and Media Appearances page.
