Dance sessions can be standing or chair based, with the speed adjusted accordingly, to suit clients with a range of abilities from the independent to the frailest. All sessions include creativity and the use of a variety of props to stimulate the senses and to focus the participant whilst also adding fun and interest. All sessions are person centred so each individual receives attention and each exercise becomes individually tailored, hence all classes are open to everyone! This form of exercise is often referred to as Movement to Music, especially in Residential Homes.
In all settings the movement to music not only benefits the health of the participants physically, but also mentally and socially. Dance work is designed to maintain and improve mobility, keep supplety, build strength and help prevent falls as well as to increase social interaction, improve mental well being, increase self esteem in a fun, friendly and safe environment.
Dance sessions usually last approximately an hour and are most beneficial delivered as a block, however, one off and other options are available. Hiring my services as a Mature Movers Dance Teacher would suit a Residential Home Activities coordinator, wardens and people responsible for planning activities for Older Peoples groups.
Why not combine Mature Movers sessions into a package by adding reminsence sessions or therapeutic hand care and hand massages? Hand and Arm massage is especially appropriate for Older People in care, who often receive only functional touch.
