"I like Schani bringing music and movement, because it helps me with all the service users, and gives me ideas when he isn't here. He also brings lots of fun onto the dementia care unit."

Dance Pilates Massage Frequently Asked Questions

What are Mature Movers?

Mature movers is a term given to dance and movement with Older people. This is usually categorised as being people who fall into the 50+ age group. As the level of frailty and abilities change with age, so does the work that is taught, so active over 50’s groups may do aerobic dance, whilst frailer older people may do a chair based movement session with props. To find out more about the Mature Movers work Schani leads, visit the Mature Movers Dance Teacher page.

What is Inclusive Dance?

Inclusive Dance is a term used for Dance and movement sessions that are open to all abilities within the one class. It is the responsibility of the teacher to then push the most able whilst also encouraging and enabling those who need a little more attention. Classes become inclusive to anyone of any ability and so everyone shares and learns skills from each other. To find out more about the Inclusive Dance work Schani leads, visit the Inclusive Dance Teacher page.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise that works, using core stability, to strengthen and lengthen muscles. This is slightly different to going to the gym to ‘bulk’ muscle and so is used by Dancers but is safe enough for Rehabilitation as well as to be used throughout pregnancy or just as a means of injury prevention. Pilates is often taught in small classes or in one to one sessions so that individual needs and abilities can be catered for safely and professionally. I have varicose veins, can I have a massage?

In short, yes! There is no medical reason why a person with Varicose Veins cannot have any massage, providing the massage takes place above the Varicose Veins on the leg/legs that are affected. To find out more about the Holistic Massage Treatments I give, visit the Holistic Massage Therapies page.
